If you downloaded or printed the 2021 Instructions for Schedule B (Form 1116), Foreign Tax Carryover Reconciliation Schedule, prior to March 17, 2022, please be advised that these instructions have been revised to clarify the definition of excess limitation and excess foreign taxes, as described below. On page 1, in both the Excess limitation and Excess foreign taxes sections, we changed the reference from "Form 1116, Part III, line 9" to "the sum of Form 1116, Part III, lines 9, 12, and 13." On page 2, in the instructions for line 6, we changed the reference from "Form 1116, Part III, line 9" to "the sum of Form 1116, Part III, lines 9, 12, and 13."
