The find your trusted partner tool can help you find qualifying offers from IRS partners to help file your federal tax return for free if you're eligible. To get started, go to IRS.gov/freefile and click on the Explore Free Guided Tax Software button. Next, click on find your trusted partner tool to answer questions to help estimate your adjusted gross income. Based on your answers, the tool will give you a list of trusted partners to choose from to file your federal tax return for free. The list will only reflect options you qualify for. Some of the partners will also offer the option to file a free state tax return. Before making a selection, remember to review their offer carefully.
