On page 103 of the 2023 Instructions for Form 1040, Instructions for Schedule 3, line 5b, disregard the following bulleted language: "A metal roof or asphalt roof with pigmented coatings or cooling granules primarily designed to reduce the heat gain in your home." These types of roofs no longer qualify for the energy efficient home improvement credit. See Form 5695 and its instructions for more information.
