Case Resolution Program

Tax professionals faced with tough, unresolved client cases are encouraged to make appointments to meet face to face with IRS representatives in the IRS Case Resolution Program. Since 2011, case resolution staff have worked nearly 4,000 cases with a resolution rate of more than 97%.

Tax professionals must bring valid power of attorney documentation for the case they wish to work with the IRS. Because of the popularity of the program, tax professionals should bring only one client case per meeting with IRS representatives. To expedite scheduling, tax professionals should bring Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative, and a completed Nationwide Tax Forum Case Data Sheet with them.

Exhibit hall

In addition to the seminars, the forums also feature a two-day expo with representatives from tax, financial and business communities offering their products, services and expertise designed with the tax professional in mind. Also, part of the expo is the IRS Zone, featuring various IRS subject matter experts, executives and tax forum speakers. Participants can stop by to share their perspective on the taxpayer experience and learn more about how the IRS is working to strengthen cybersecurity, improve services and build partnerships with the tax professional community.

Special events

New this year, the forums are offering four special events for attendees: a special Monday evening panel discussion on practice management, a Wednesday morning early bird session on the Written Information Security Plan, a Wednesday evening town hall with the National Taxpayer Advocate and a Thursday brownbag lunch on the taxpayer experience.
