IRS and Telemundo Host Tax Information Program for Spanish-Speaking Taxpayers 2006

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service is joining national television network Telemundo in a special one-hour tax program for Spanish-speaking taxpayers on Sunday, Jan. 15. The program, “Los Impuestos y Usted” (“Taxes and You”), will air at 3:30 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time, and at 2:30 p.m. Central and Mountain Time.

“Los Impuestos y Usted” will focus on a variety of tax issues, ranging from the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for low-income working taxpayers to electronic filing (IRS e-file) and from Free File to tips on choosing a tax preparer. IRS experts also will discuss taxpayers’ rights and how to obtain help with tax questions.

Mónica Noguera, host of Telemundo’s special programs, will present the IRS program, which features in-studio interviews with IRS tax experts.

In addition to the television broadcast, Telemundo has created an IRS resource center on its Telemundo.com Web site, under the program title “Los Impuestos y Usted.”  By using the Chat link on this page, users will be able to join an online Web Chat through which they can send tax questions to IRS experts. The IRS experts will answer the incoming questions live from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST.
