San Jose executives plead guilty to employment tax crimes
May 20, 2025 — The following is according to court documents and statements made in court: Lalo Valdez and Matthew Olson, both of Northern California, operated a San Jose-based health informatics and product development company that provided clinical care and technology services to clients in healthcare and academia. Valdez was the CEO and Olson the CFO. As such, both were responsible for the company’s operations, managed its internal books and records, signed checks on behalf of the company, and hired and fired employees. Both men also were responsible for withholding Social Security, Medicare, and federal income taxes from employees’ wages and paying those funds over to the government each quarter.

June 6, 2025 — A former Kent, Washington, woman was sentenced today in U.S. District Court in Seattle to an additional twelve months and one day in prison for stealing from her new employer while awaiting sentencing for stealing from a past employer, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Teal Luthy Miller. In 2023, Christin Guillory was sentenced to three years in prison for stealing more than $2.5 million from an Everett manufacturing company where she served as accounting manager.

Bookkeeper is sentenced to prison for embezzling more than $1.35 million from employer
June 15, 2023 — A bookkeeper was sentenced to prison today for embezzling more than $1.35 from his employer, announced Dena J. King, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger ordered Danny Dale Tremble of Conover, N.C., to serve 41 months in prison followed by three of supervised release, and to pay restitution in the amount of $1,639,659.99.
