Veterans at the IRS - YouTube video text script

Mike: I served for a total of 21 years with the U.S. Army.

{staggered}

Daliza: I served 6 years with the U.S. Navy

Nicholle: I served 9 years with the Army Reserve.

Nicole: My husband has been part of the U.S. Army since 2019.

Alex: I served a little over four years of active duty in the U.S. Army.

Hien: I am currently a Reserve naval officer.

Alex: I started working with the IRS as an intern thanks to the Department of Defense’s Skillbridge program. From there, I was hired through one of the Special Hiring Authorities for Veterans that allowed me to get hired very quickly with no gap between my military service and the start of my IRS career.

Nicole: I’m grateful that I can hold an IRS position anywhere in the United States, should a new military assignment arise for my husband. Working here gives me the stability that I need, and the IRS culture is very understanding and flexible for those who are part of military families.

Mike: Some of the opportunities and benefits other veterans can take advantage of here at the IRS are experiencing camaraderie amongst co-workers, military leave every fiscal year, and a Veteran Mentoring Program.

Hien: The IRS has various positions for professionals and entry-level job seekers. I found my niche here and became a productive member immediately upon my return from mobilization.

Daliza: As a veteran, I’m able to bring my ability to adapt to changing situations and apply the discipline and communication skills that I developed in the service.

Nicholle: If you’re a veteran considering working for the IRS I’d say, go for it. There are so many ways to excel here at IRS.
