Understanding your CP211C notice

What this notice is about

We denied your Form 8868, Application for Extension of Time to File an Exempt Organization Return or Excise Taxes Related to Employee Benefit Plans PDF, because it wasn't received on time.

What you need to do

  • File your required exempt organization return immediately to limit any late filing penalties. If you file your exempt organization return after the due date of the return (including any extensions), the return is considered late and subject to late filing penalties.
  • Exempt organizations must file Form 990 series returns electronically. The IRS will not accept Form 990 series returns filed on paper. See E-file for Charities and Non-Profits.
