MeF Exempt Organization Stakeholders: We are providing additional eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML) Schemas and Business Rules for the following forms for Tax Year 2020, 2019, and 2018 (Processing Year 2021). Tax year 2020 schema versions: Form 990x (990, 990-EZ, 990-PF): TY2020v2.0 Form 990-N: TY2020v2.0 Form 1120-POL: TY2020v2.0 Form 8868: TY2020v1.0 (Business rule change page only) Tax year 2019 business rule change pages only: Form 990x (990, 990-EZ, 990-PF): TY2019v5.1 Form 1120-POL: TY2019v5.1 Form 8868: TY2019v1.0 Tax year 2018 business rule change pages only: Form 990x (990, 990-EZ, 990-PF): TY2018v3.3 Form 1120-POL: TY2018v2.3 Form 8868: TY2018v1.0 990 Family Schemas and Business Rules Distribution is now through the Registered User Portal and your e-services mailbox. This mailbox is part of the Secure Object Repository (SOR). Users will access their mailbox in their existing e-services account to pick up the schema and business rules packages. Instructions for accessing the SOR mailbox The Schemas and Business Rules versions listed above are expected to be used in ATS and Production; however, additional updates may be released for Forms 990x and 1120-POL. XML schemas The schemas are packaged by form type and version number. "Diff" files are included which identify the difference between the schema version listed above and the previous schema version. Business rules Business Rules are packaged, by form type and version number. Two different formats are provided that contain identical information – Adobe (.pdf) and comma separated file (.csv). A column within the file identifies changes made from the previous version. Key changes TY2020: All: Update to ReturnHeader.xsd Form 990x (990, 990-EZ): New fields added at top of schema and Line B.
