The IRS requires electronic payments whenever possible. It’s faster and more secure. Choose from bank account, debit or credit card or digital wallet. Make an electronic payment.

You can pay by cash in person. Or mail a money order or cashier’s check purchased with cash.

Make an appointment at a local assistance center.

  • No dollar limit 
  • Make appointment 30-60 days before due date 

Pay at a Taxpayer Assistance Center

Participating retailer

Pay at a retailer near you. 

  • Up to $1.50 fee per payment
  • $500 limit per payment
  • Pay 7 days before the due date

Pay by money order or cashier’s check

Use cash to purchase a money order or cashier’s check at a grocery store, bank or U.S. post office. Then mail the money order or check to us.
