External customer data store (ECDS) extracts (formerly known as third-party data store (TPDS) extracts)

IRS extracts limited information from its External Customer Data Store database about currently authorized e-file providers with whom it partners. IRS makes the extracted files available to the public in January and July of each year. The data includes the names and limited contact information of authorized e-file providers and information about the types of returns and number of returns filed by the providers for the current filing year to date. IRS also provides the information for the two preceding filing years. The extracts provided for download here are in comma delimited text format:

  • Master extract ZIP – includes business name, address and the types of returns and number of returns processed
  • Partner extract ZIP – limited information about the Principals listed on the e-file provider application
  • Contact extract ZIP – limited information about the Primary Contact listed on the e-file provider application

Note: The FOIA extracts may not include firms whose application is going through an update, although they are still an authorized IRS e-file provider. When updates are completed, they may be included in subsequent extracts.
