CONCLUSION In summary, let me assure you that this Administration understands just how important the exempt sector is to our nation and how important it is that we act against outliers before they do any further damage to the tax system and to the confidence of our citizens. That is why we have made this one of our four enforcement initiatives and have asked for additional funds to ensure that we are able to do what needs to be done. We are confident that if we focus both on the governance issues and the misuse of entities by others we will be able to address these problems effectively. Let me also say that the Administration commends this Committee for your recognition of the problems and your effort to get at the causes of and solutions for these abuses.
