Phoenix, AZ — On September 13, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas Rampetsreiter was sentenced to an additional nine months in prison for failure to appear. On August 10, 2020, Rampetsreiter was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $2,211,304 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service for committing conspiracy to file fraudulent tax returns, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371.

Rampetsreiter was ordered to self-surrender to begin his sentence on October 13, 2020. Rampetsreiter failed to self-surrender and was later arrested in Florida. According to the government's sentencing memorandum, Rampetsreiter was staying in a Florida hotel under an assumed name with a switched license plate on his vehicle. He also had four cellular phones, multiple debit cards, and four $1,000 international money orders in his possession.
