Date: February 16, 2022 Contact: newsroom@ci.irs.gov Albany, NY — Elizabeth Doyle of Burnt Hills, New York, was sentenced today to a year of probation, and to pay restitution in the amount of $94,522 and a $7,500 fine, following her conviction on two counts of filing false tax returns. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Thomas Fattorusso, Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Office, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI). Doyle's conviction related to business income she earned through a Saratoga County company that places home health care aides in patients' homes. In pleading guilty, Doyle admitting to filing materially false tax returns in tax years 2016 and 2017 that underreported income totaling $647,263, resulting in a loss to the government of at least $94,522. Betty Marriot of Gansevoort, New York, sold the home health care company to Doyle in 2016. She also filed false tax returns, and was sentenced on October 21, 2021 to a year of probation and ordered to pay $280,413 in restitution and a $7,500 fine. These cases were investigated by IRS-CI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily C. Powers.
